Shopify Shipping in India: How D2C Brands Connect Couriers
Shopify does not replace Indian courier allocation, NDR, or COD remittance. Here's how a courier aggregator plugs into Shopify so unfulfilled orders become labels without portal hopping.

Shopify checkout is not a shipping network. Indian D2C brands still need a courier for each pincode, a COD confirmation step, and a remittance file. A courier aggregator sits between Shopify and those couriers so ops is not copying orders into five portals.
What the integration should do
- Pull unfulfilled orders (SKU, weight, COD amount, address) into the shipping desk.
- Allocate a courier by pincode performance, not a Shopify default.
- Print the label and write the AWB back to the Shopify order.
- Keep the buyer on branded tracking and WhatsApp NDR, not only a carrier SMS.
COD on Shopify
Shopify can collect prepaid. COD still needs a courier that collects cash, an NDR desk when the buyer is unavailable, and a remittance ledger. Confirm high-risk COD on WhatsApp before the label prints — that step lives in the aggregator, not in Shopify admin.
WooCommerce and API
The same pattern applies to WooCommerce and custom OMS stacks: ingest the order, allocate, label, track, recover NDR, reconcile COD. If your storefront is not Shopify, a REST shipping API should still present one payload to all courier partners.
